Welcome to DORG

Our cover dog this month is Drake, owned by Angie & Catherine of Tampa, Florida.

This month's articles is geared to the medical end of pet care. We've had people request information on anesthesia and what happens when our pets are "put under" for an operation.  We've also been getting a lot of mail from owners worrying about lumps they find on their dogs. When do we worry?  Read this article from a great source, PetEducation, and become aware of the different lumps and bumps our pets have. Don't forget, Mammary cancer starts with lumps  which is why it's so important to spay your female BEFORE they come into season the first time. Visit this site, The PetCenter, to see a mammary gland removal operation to understand more.

Controversial or not, read what is being said about heartworm preventative. DORG gets questions frequently on vaccines and monthly medications and stands firm that all owners should trust their vets advice, but, they should also educate themselves when it comes to the treatments they choose to give their pets and decide what is right for them by learning about the chemicals or the procedures involved.

We continue to list the items you should keep in a first aid kit to cover basic emergencies. Also in the health end of things, do you know what to do if your dog is stung? Bees and spiders can cause swelling and allergic reactions. Know what to do for an insect sting!

Don't forget to visit DORG's shopping boutique now and see what's new.

Rescue - Consider your next pet a rescue.  Rescue offers a multitude of dogs who need loving homes and a tremendous number of dedicated people helping dogs in need.  Many dogs are from owner turn ins, puppy mills and abandonment.  Any rescuer will tell you the amount of love they give back is ten fold and it gives them a second chance at happiness.

Our Product review for the month
